Professional Science Masters were designed in other countries for students interested in entering the workforce upon graduation. Western University is the leader in Canada in offering these specialized Masters, which are aimed at emerging areas of employment that are not necessarily recognized as distinct professions yet require highly educated and skilled personnel. At Western, the Professional Science Master’s in Management of Applied Science (MMASc) is course-based, requiring students to take half of their courses from the “hub” (workplace-oriented courses) and half from the “spoke” (science-oriented courses designed to provide scientific training in a specialized area).
